Days & Knights

There are days
There are Knights
There are wonders
There are delights

Sand, water, and poetry
Images full of magical flair
Unwrap your present slowly
Interesting friend-so very rare

Words are the way...

Words are the way
To share
To play
To know

Eloquence comes
Knowledge flows
Language dances
Connection grows

Inhale the essence
Feel the bubbles
Taste the presence
See the rainbow

Touch the universe
Catch the star
Dance with the moonbeams
Here we are...

En---joy

The Woodlands

The woods are dark green,
The lake is beautiful blue,
Observe carefully,
In the mist: A rainbow hue.

Relax, enjoy,
Show them how it is done,
You are the Goddess and I give to you-
Mist, a rainbow, and the sun...

A Song For You

I wanted to write a song for you
A song to celebrate the first time that I saw you
A song that acknowledges your voice
A song that recalls your laugh

I wanted to write a song for you
A song that somehow creates images-images of the joy deep within
A song that shares with the universe
The very specialness that is so uniquely, specially you

I wanted to write a song for you
A song that begins to tell you what I felt and saw
Things that are not necessarily understood by the rest
But our universe is infinitely better

I wanted to write a song for you
I put in words like serenity, beauty, natural, sparkling
I added thoughts like wit, charm, delight, tenderness
I swirled it full of feelings like joy, caring, wonderment

I wanted to write a song for you
A song to be sung for another thousand summers
A song to be played for a million adventures
A song to tell you how much you are loved

I wanted to write a song for you
So I put words on paper
Words with meaning not rhyme
And I ask you to add the music...

Grandma

Grandma always made life a little extra special-
Special cookies, Special candies,
Special clothes that she made,
Special visits & holidays.

I remember her apple tree,
I remember her flowers,
I remember spending summers with her,
I remember her wonderful laugh.

Most of all-
I remember the lesson that she taught to those who were open to it-
You can get what you want-
If you are willing to work for it-

Work for it & make your dreams come true-
Live your dreams &
Do what you love-
& You will be filled with great joy!

Celebrate & remember this message-
Live your dreams,
Do what you love, &
Everytime you see a rainbow,
Everytime you feel the sunshine,
Remember Grandma Bea & Feel Great Joy!!!

I left the text and punctuation exactly as it was on the napkin on which I wrote this and from which I delivered the eulogy for my Grandmother-Beatrice Koehntopp-on December 1, 2003 in Bellingham, MN. She finished her life on November 27, 2003 at the still vibrant age of 98 years, 10 months, 7 days.

All Saints Day

All Saints Day comes but once a year
Yet the day
Shall always be remembered
For the unknown promise

A thousand summers
A million adventures
Magical love and incredible joy
Yet to come...

Goddess of the Senses

this piece received the Editor's Choice Award
and is the first piece in the hardcover volume
Forever Spoken

Goddess of the Senses

The universe
Knowing there are infinite possibilities
Put the Goddess of the Senses on my path
So that I might take her by the hand
And share with her new tastes, touches, sights, sounds
Growing understanding
Building wisdom and joy
Creating a new and more beautiful universe
